Dar es Salaam (HOL) – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Dar es Salaam on Thursday for an official visit at the invitation of President Mrs. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
President Mohamud’s agenda in Tanzania includes discussions with his Tanzanian counterpart concerning regional affairs and the mutual interests of both nations within the EAC.
The talks are also anticipated to cover strengthening bilateral ties, expediting Somalia’s integration into the economic framework of the Horn of Africa, and fostering economic and investment collaborations.
The visit holds particular significance as it follows Somalia’s recent accession to the East African Community. In March 2024, Somalia became the EAC’s 8th Partner State, solidifying its regional integration and cooperation commitment.
Tanzania was crucial in supporting Somalia’s membership bid to the EAC.
