Muscat – Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidi, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), held a meeting in Tokyo with Saito Ken, Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry.
The meeting reviewed aspects of economic cooperation between Oman and Japan, including major projects being implemented in Oman’s economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities.
One significant project discussed was the low-carbon iron production project in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD).
Dr Al Sunaidi also held meetings with several representatives from companies involved in reduced iron and its derivatives, manufacturing equipment for renewable energy production, and the construction of aircraft, ships, and other vehicles. They also discussed hydrogen receiving, storing, and exporting stations. Additionally, Dr Al Sunaidi met with financial organisations to explore potential funding for targeted projects.
Dr Al Sunaidi and his delegation were briefed on Yokohama Port’s experience in receiving ships specialised in transporting energy and petroleum products, as well as receiving and storing vehicles.
He also held meetings with the Mayor of Yokohama City and several Yokohama Port officials to discuss cooperation between the Ports of Yokohama and Duqm.
