Dorothea S. DeGrasse passed away peacefully on Nov. 2 in Adelphi, Md. She was the daughter of the late Gideon and Maude Peebles.
She is survived by her brother, Samuel Peebles; sisters: Jean Carlino and Blanche Peebles; several nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Reverand Dr. Wilfred DeGrasse.
Dorothea was born March 25, 1926, on St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands. After graduation from Christiansted High School (CHS), Dorothea began employment with the Virgin Islands Government. She was also very active in church activities where she enjoyed singing and playing the piano and organ.
After marriage to Wilfred, she joined him as a Navy wife and served with him in many interesting places throughout the world. Dorothea also supported Wilfred in his ministry with the Good Samaritan Mission Church. She also worked for the federal government and retired after many years of service with various agencies.
Dorothea enjoyed gatherings where she mingled happily with family and friends, especially during the holiday season. She will be missed but fondly live in the hearts and minds of those who loved her.
A Memorial Service for Dorothea will be conducted on Saturday, Dec. 2, at the March Life Tribute Center, 7601 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, Md., 20707. V\the viewing will take place at 10 a.m. and the Memorial Service at 11 a.m.
