Mochudi prepares to officially open leobo
The other day during discussions with an opposition politician named Mosweu Pilane in Mochudi, I got to know that divisions between Mochudi and Moruleng in South Africa are widening. He told me that of late the Moruleng people are demanding that the Mochudi people stop calling themselves Bakgatla-ba-Kgafele. He had picked up that argument from some people who claimed that the people of Mochudi do not deserve to be called Bakgatla-ba-Kgafele. Instead they should call themselves Bakgatla –ba-Kgamanyane, so goes the argument. They argue that the name Bakgatla-ba-Kgafele is for the people of Moruleng. They argue that the Mochudi people should identify themselves with Kgosi Kgamanyane who led them into Botswana in 1871.
