A blast of winter chill is expected to hit Australia’s southeast, with those planning to attend Anzac Day dawn services warned to rug up.
An “autumnal cold front” is crossing into the southeast corner of the country on Wednesday, covering Tasmania, Victoria, South Australia and is tracking towards the NSW coast.
Snow is expected in the alpine region of Tasmania.
Here’s what the weather will look like in each capital:
Sydney
A chill is expected to arrive in the city overnight, with a minimum of 15C forecast for Thursday morning.
People waking for dawn services should prepare for the temperature to feel even cooler, with southwesterly winds making a high of 22C feel much lower.
Melbourne
Melbourne residents will get a bitterly cold low of 10C on Thursday morning, with westerly winds and intermittent showers likely to make it feel colder.
The temperature will climb to a high of 16C.
Brisbane
While people in Brisbane will wake to a low of 17C, the day is expected to warm to 27C with clear skies and light winds.
Canberra
Canberra residents will take out the prize for the bravest Dawn Service attendees, with temperatures set to reach just 4C in the early hours of the morning.
The weather will warm to a maximum of 19C later in the day.
Adelaide
Another cool start to the day in Adelaide, with a low of 10C and a high of 19C later in the day.
Hobart
Blustery wind gusts are expected about dawn with a minimum of 9C feeling much cooler. It will warm to just 15C at the day’s peak.
Darwin
People in Darwin will be spared from the cold with a low of 25C and a high of 35C.
Perth
A blue sky day is forecast for Perth this Anzac Day, with a minimum of 12C climbing to 25C later in the day.
